A George I mounted tortoiseshell snuff box, of plain oblong form with a shaped, stand-away hinge, the cover with a pique-work pattern of formal foliage within a pelleted border, the interior with a scratched inscription "Luta, at his fate will ne'er repine Cesar, take ye world, be thou mine", unmarked 1705-1715, 3.1in (7.7cm) long.
