ERNST BOHNE DRESDEN PORCELAIN NUDE BOY GERMAN FIGURINE Excellent condition with one in the making to remark, an underfill or popped bubble on his knee, does not appear to be a chip. A small naked boy with a drape sits on the edge of a fluted column trimmed with a band of flowers, He has a small knife, and is whittling a stick, He is a cupid or putto without wings, done in white porcelain. Bohne is well known for his tumbling angel boys and children in white pocelain with clear glaze.Measures about 4-1/4 inches tall. The base measures 1-3/4 inches across the widest point. The back stamp is a blue, under glaze crown over the letter "N", the mark of Ernst Bohne Sohne, Rudolstadt, Germany. there is a mould or style number impressed in the clay: 11742/11and a smaller 7 also impressed, meaning he may be part of a series. There is no country of origin, so not made for export. This mark was used from 1901-1920 according to "Rontgen Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain".
