Russian Silver & Shaded Enamel Tea Caddy: Saltykov
A Russian silver & shaded enamel tea caddy by Ivan Saltykov, manufactured in Moscow between 1896-1907 in 84 standard silver. Of square section, the exterior of the caddy is decorated in excellent quality scrolling shaded foliage against gilded, stippled ground; the slide-on lid is enameled en suite and two sides of the body emblazoned with stylized birds. Beneath the enameled cover is the original cork stopper in its gilded silver assembly. Measuring 5 1/8” (13 cm) tall and 2 13/16” (7.15 cm) square, the piece is heavy and solid. In excellent condition, it is appropriately marked under the base and inside the lid. Excellent.
