I believe that this is another Victorian souvenir of the Grand Tour popular with the new middle class of American at the turn of the last century. The entire spoon is carved from some type of translucent horn -- worn very smooth and of a warm brown color. ...click for details
This tartan ware box is Victorian and has a partial label that appears to read "casket." I believe this was a container for a spool of thread. There is some light scuffing to the surface. Please look at all of the photos.
