This tartan ware box is Victorian and has a partial label that appears to read "casket." I believe this was a container for a spool of thread. There is some light scuffing to the surface. Please look at all of the photos.

This is a 19th c. calling card case with an ivory calling card for Lindsay Ferris (which was found inside of the case when it was purchased at a local estate).
