Measurements: 8.5" x 7" x 4.5"

Made of various cigar box woods. The multi colored layers are due to the different kinds of wood used for vintage cigar boxes and/or different finishes applied to each of the six layers of hand notched wood. This folk art is also called Vernacular Art and is similar to (though not the same as) pen knife whittling.

The box is lined with original velvet - still in good condition. The lid is covered with vintage foil and decorated with a bit of Victorian scrap. Note that a small piece of foil is missing at the top left.

Dating to the early 1900's.

Possibly a jewelry box or small sewing box.
