This design of lamp was considered a library or parlor lamp and was in vogue in the very early part of the 20th century.

All of the filigree and the fittings are original (note the acorn shaped drops on the pull chains). Not original is the wiring (the lamp has been rewired to meet current safety standards, but the silk wrapped cord and the plug are reproductions of the original type of wire and plug.) Also, the original silk lining of the shade was in shreds, so I had a replacement liner made - again in the style of the original.

The base of the lamp lights up with a separate switch located on the base. The top of the lamp has a two bulb fitting.

The color of the fabric is a honey gold, so that the light mimics candlelight.

The two bulb fixture will take bulbs up to 60 watts.
