$50

Set with chrysoprase cabochons of different heights. The screw backs look to have been added later, the solder obscuring marks on the back of the earrings, one of which may be sterling. The other looks like a maker’s mark. They have a Scandinavian feel, though they also could be American. The screw backs are marked sterling. The earrings could have started out life as something else, such as buttons or cuff links. Gross weight: 4 grams total

$125

A sturdy cuff bracelet with a ribbed design that runs horizontally along the entire piece. It has kept its shape and has a soft, warm patina from age. A few very minor scratches, hardly noticeable without magnification. The inside is marked sterling; there is no maker’s mark. The cuff has a graduated width, measuring 1 3/8 inches at its widest area; the inside circumference measures 6 5/6 inches. Weight: 38.9 grams

SOLD

A pair of hollow-cast two-sided cuff links formed as knots with scrolled decoration. There is no mark other than what looks like a ‘U’ on the back of two of the buttons; the cuff links may have originally had shorter bridge bars that bore marks and were eventually replaced (probably before 1920). The buttons and removable bridge bars test as sterling silver. Each button measures 3/8 inch in diameter. Weight: 5.2 grams

$275

This undecorated sterling silver bangle bracelet has a nice, warm patina. Its squared edges give it a modernist look. It bears the Jensen mark as well as marks for Denmark, sterling and the design number, 51A. (The bracelet has been cleaned a bit since being photographed, making it easier to discern the Jensen mark.) Its interior circumference measures about 7 3/4 inches and the diameter is 2 3/4 inches; it is 1/8 inch thick. Weight: 25 grams

$175

An impressive, wide, handmade cuff bracelet of ethnic design. The textured band features an applied wavy line of silver on either side of three diamond-shaped reserves of an unidentified amber-colored stone that looks to have been crushed and resin-set. The inside of the bracelet is signed Lillo with possibly the word Creation underneath; it is also marked 925 for sterling. An online source describes Lillo as an Israeli studio that produced handmade jewelry imported to American gift shops and bo ...click for details

$75

A modernist design of elongated amber prong-set in a similarly shaped silver frame. A silver wire applied to the back surrounds the piece for a ‘space-age’ effect. The pin is marked 835 on the back, for .835 silver; the mark is accompanied by an impressed abstract fish, probably the maker’s mark. The pin measures 2 ½ inches long by about ¾ inch at its widest part.

$65

A nice late arts and crafts piece, consisting of an oval turquoise cabochon, heavily embedded with matrix, set in a sterling silver bezel mount. It is surrounded by an inset frame, with a closed back. The back is marked ‘Handwrought Sterling’; the ‘H’ is partially obscured by the vintage latched clasp, which is probably a replacement for the original C-clasp. It measures 1 inch long by ¾ inch wide.

$135

The glass inserts of this bracelet give off a peacock blue iridescence, and is very much reminiscent of labradorite or other quartz-like stone. The cabochons are set within silver frames with tiny sawtooth edges. One is chipped on the back (see photo), but can’t be seen from the front, and is stable. The spring-ring clasp is in good working order; it is vintage, although it may not be original to the piece. The bracelet measures about 8 inches long; the settings measure a little over 3/8 inch w ...click for details

$85

A charming souvenir ring produced by Gorham for the St. Louis Exposition of 1904. It has retained most of its detail, and commemorates the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. The front depicts the head of Thomas Jefferson, who was president at the time of the Purchase. Inside the ring band is the combined Gorham mark, patent date of 1903, the official souvenir stamp, and ‘sterling’; the entire combined mark is stamped and raised. The inside also indicates a ring size of 6 ½, though it is a bit on the s ...click for details

$135

This bold sterling silver ring has a continuous design with a pillowy look interrupted by two openings enhanced by oxidation. Under magnification, the surface of the ring appears scratched and marked, but it is extremely smooth to the touch; most if not all of the surface appearance is probably from the casting process, and is practically invisible to the naked eye. It is the work of Joachim S’Paliu of Cordoba, Spain, and is marked on the outside of the band at the bottom, along with a star with ...click for details
