A lovely and very old 3 piece butter dish. Made by Brownfield pre-1871. Has impressed Brownfield mark. I believe that "New Melrose" would be the pattern name.
There are no cracks, chips, or damage to the piece. There is some minor brown staining, due to age on the underside of plate and cover. Some of the gilt around the scalloped edges has worn off.
The plate is 7 5/8 inch diameter from handle to handle. Overall height is about 4 inches.
