This is a well preserved document signed by Gideon Granger, Post Master General of the US under President Jackson, appointing Francis Brown to the post of Deputy Post Master in Williamstown, VT. Dated September 5, 1805. It has several folds and creases as it was found folded in a box. Restorable.
