Momoyama to early Edo Eras (late 16c to late 17c). Excellent condition. A high footed tapered bowl, wheel thrown and decorated with impressions and multicolor peach and white body glazing (with a bare foot rim), accompanied by an bag and box. "Gohon" tea bowls were made to order in Korea by Japanese tea masters and Daimyo or others of similar status.
11.25" high, base 7" long. Two ceramic light dishes remain. Rusting and a very small crack (see picture). Probably late Edo era, c. 1800-1860. These light stands called "Tomyodai" were used at Buddhist temples in Japan for making votive offerings. Oil and small wicks were placed in the ceramic dishes.
