Vintage Taisho Era Japanese Lacquer Food Tray Lobster

With original box, dated March, 1922, see below. Marvelously designed carved nuri style lacquer tray with a lobster (or Isu ebi shrimp) in low relief. Very good condition, with some surface scratching and edge wear from normal use. (Taisho Ju-nen San-gatsu, (unknown character)- Nuri, Ebi-bon, hyakuichiyonichi-go); (Taisho Era, 10th year, 3rd month, unknown-"nuri" lacquer Ebi (shrimp plate, #141). A handsome period piece.
