Details: A rare and handsome example of a 17th century gilt Tibetan image of Vairocana one of the five transcendent Buddhas. This impressive image is probably central Tibetan, but is heavily influenced by earlier Western Tibetan images of Vairocana. The most obvious Western Tibetan influences are the tall crown, stiff circular scarf, the sturdy tight form and the prominent heavy ornaments. Details: A rare and very attractive example of an early Ayutthaya bronze gilt Buddha from Phitsanulok. Buddha is seated upon a high ornate base, in dhyanasana with his right hand in bhumisparsha mudra, his long petal like fingers touching the earth, while his left hand gracefully rests on his lap in dhyana mudra.
