Dated 1781, London, England. Sterling coffee warmer by Thomas and George Hayter. This is a rare example of a Georgian coffee pot and, most importantly, the original warming stand. The pots survived but seldom with the matching stand. The form of this piece is urbanely architectural with little added ornamentation. Circa 1804-06 made by Alfred Wells & Co., Hebron, CT. This attractive Connecticut coin silver tea set has unusual design elements and uncommon construction techniques. It is a testament to the individuality of American silversmiths working in this period. Note the double row of large beads on the base, and bead decoration on every level. Made by William Gale & Sons, one of the most important New York City firms of its time. Inscribed "W.M.P. to Sarah 6th Sept. 1854". Excellent condition.
Circa 1890s, .800 fineness silver, German. Founded in 1829, Koch & Bergfeld is one of the world's oldest producers of silverware still in operation.
