Antique American Coin Silver 3 Piece Tea Set c1804-06
Circa 1804-06 made by Alfred Wells & Co., Hebron, CT. This attractive Connecticut coin silver tea set has unusual design elements and uncommon construction techniques. It is a testament to the individuality of American silversmiths working in this period. Note the double row of large beads on the base, and bead decoration on every level. The handles are of an unusual design and the decorative repousse work is very ornate and applied, rather than worked, in the body of the piece. The finials are also extra fancy and mechanically attached in an English method, rather than in the more common American solder joins. Excellent condition throughout.

SIZE/WEIGHT: Teapot 10" high, 42.12 oz, Sugar 9 3/4" high, 32.15oz, Creamer 7 1/2" high, 17.98oz. Total weight 92.25 oz.

HALLMARKS: Signed A. Wells & Co.
