A Japanese Gold Lacquer Box. Edo Period 1st. Half 19th. Century
8 3/4 x 2 3/4 x 1 1/2 ins. (22.2 x 7 x 3.8 cms) This attractive lacquer box has a design of fans and pine clusters. The silver cord fittings are engraved. As can be seen from the photos the edges have some chips, the lid has a repaired split on one corner as does the base section. A Large Japanese Stoneware Karatsu-yaki Dish. Edo Period
Diam. 15 1/4 ins. (38.7 cms) This handsome and classic E-Garatsu (Painted Karatsu) dish was reputably excavated from a kiln site but we cannot substantiate this. As can be seen in the photos it has three firing cracks in the rim, one of which has a small chip on the reverse. Curiously the dish has a hole in the centre which has been filled. Chinese Yuan Dynasty Jun Bowl with Gold Lacquer Repair
This "heavily-potted" stoneware Junyao bowl was made during the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368). It is coated in a thick crackled Jun glaze. The colour is predominantly bluish but there is a purple splash inside and another smaller purple splash to the outer surface. Around the rim is a Japanese kintsugi gold lacquer repair. Fine Chinese Tang Dynasty Horse with Oxford TL Test
This fine and elegant pottery model of a saddled horse was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It has been "cold painted" after firing in various coloured pigments. The horse stands alert with its head turned slightly to the left.
A Very Rare Large Japanese Woodblock Print of London Street Scene by Kojo Kokan (1891-1988) 1930.
17 7/8 x 14 1/2 ins. (45.4 x 36.8 cms) The only reference we can find to this print is the example in the British Museum which is illustrated on the BM website and which was exhibited 2007 Oct 10 - 2008 Feb 17, in the BM Japanese Galleries.
