A Fine Japanese Bronze Bull by Jiichi Kome (1896-1985)
Length 10 ins. (25.3 cms) Jiichi Kome, a fine and original artist who is little known in the West, graduated from the Tokyo Art School in 1921 where he had been studying with the celebrated sculptor Takamura Koun.
In 1924 he sold work to the Japanese Royal Family. Takaoka City made an award to him in 1963 and in 1966 he made a bronze Phoenix which was installed on the roof of the Imperial Palace. In 1968 he won a prize from Toyama Prefect ...click for details

14 1/4 x 3 5/8 ins. (36.2 x 9.3 cms) This beautifully printed design is from the series "Kokusui Buto Sen " (Selected Traditional Dances of Japan) and was published by Uchida in the 1950s. The print is in excellent condition with no damage and no repairs.
