Diameter of painting without mount 12 ins. (30.5 cms) Wang Yuchen was born in Hangzhou. In 1915 he, Chen Baoyi and others founded the first painting organisation in China, The Orient Painting Society. In 1916 he studied in Japan and returned to China the same year taking a post as a director at the Shanghai Art Academy. From 1928 to 1931 he toured Europe.
