A Rare Japanese Wood Box Decorated by Hayashi Bunto (1882-1966)
8 x 8 x 3 1/4 ins. (20.3 x 20.3 x 8.3 cms) Bunto was a Shijo style painter who had travelled in China several times. He exhibited at the Bunten, the prestigious exhibition organised by the Japan Art Academy, in 1907. His teachers were Maekawa Bunrei (1837-1917) and Yamamoto Shunkyo (1871-1933). He has works in the Museum of Modern Art in Kyoto.

Japanese Woodblock Print by Sadanobu Hasegawa 3rd. (1881-1963)
14 1/4 x 3 5/8 ins. (36.2 x 9.3 cms) This beautifully printed design is from the series "Kokusui Buto Sen " (Selected Traditional Dances of Japan) and was published by Uchida in the 1950s. The print is in excellent condition with no damage and no repairs.
