This superbly produced book is the catalogue to a special exhibition of Northern Song Dynasty Ru or Ju ware held at the National Palace Museum in Taiwan. The exhibition included a few examples of Korean celadons of the same period that are also shown in this book. Ru ware, the name given to famous porcelains made at the Song Dynasty Ru kilns were the most appreciated ceramics by literati of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Since porcelains were fired at the Ru kilns for only a short period of time, very few of them have survived. The book is illustrated throughout in colour and as well as the descriptions of the exhibits, there is plenty of background information, including details and illustrations of kiln shards and utensils.
