Book: Percival David Chinese Porcelain - Rare Marks
This fine book is the fully illustrated catalogue of an exhibition of 76 outstanding examples of Chinese porcelain made between the 15th and 19th centuries, all with rare marks. From the 16th century, people ordering ceramics from the Jingdezhen and other kilns had the possibility of inscribing the wares with their own names. Such marks can tell us much about a ceramic's history including who owned it and when, for which purpose it was ordered and why a certain shape or colour was required. The objects shown in this catalogue are from two of the finest collections of Chinese ceramics, those of the Percival David Foundation and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Hardback with paper jacket. 182 printed pages. Text in English and Chinese. Fully illustrated in colour Dimensions: 28.5 x 21.5 cm. Please note that although these books are new (i.e.not second-hand or used), due to them being in storage for ten years, there may be slight scuff marks to the paper jacket. POSTAGE: United Kingdom: GBP 5.20 Europe (airmail): GBP 8.80 Rest of World (airmail): GBP 15.35 Multiple purchases can of course be combined to minimize postage costs.
