| A Rare Japanese Woodblock Triptych Print by Kuniyoshi. Edo Period. 1830s. Assembled size 29 1/4 x 14 1/4 ins. (74.3 x 36.2 cms) This striking design shows three Kabuki actors in front of a very dynamic water wheel. The print has pristine colour, as fresh as the day it left the printer's hands. Condition is excellent, with no damage, apart from a slightly nibbled corner at the top left of the right hand sheet, and no repairs. As can clearly be seen from the photos there is some trimming, always a sign that it has been part of a Japanese album where prints of slightly different size were trimmed to ensure uniformity. It is unusual to see triptych by one of the greatest of the 19th. century Ukiyoe masters in such pristine state. We have been unable to identify the publisher.
