Large Chinese Han Dynasty Amber Glazed Hu Jar
Large Chinese Han Dynasty Glazed Hu Jar

This large and impressive pottery jar was made during the Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 220). It is coated in a particularly attractive amber glaze. There are decorative bands around the shoulder and waist and on opposing sides are two applied moulded taotie mask handles.

Height 38 cm (15 inches). There are minor chips to the rim and what looks like a stabilised circular hairline crack to the base. Overall a lovely example in very good condition.
