Fine Large Chinese Western Jin Dynasty Warrior
This impressive and very rare pottery model of a warrior was made during the Western Jin Dynasty (AD 265 - 316), although some publications incorrectly attribute such figures to the earlier Han Dynasty. It is quite "heavily-potted" and made from a fine-grained grey pottery that has been "cold painted" in various coloured pigments, good traces of which still remain. He stands as though in the act of throwing a spear. Note the grotesque features of the face and the detail of the clothing. There are good traces of ancient root/plant growths from its long burial, especially on the lower part. Height 43 cm (17 inches). There is no sign of any restoration or repair, as is supported by shining a torch into the hollow body. This is a superb example in truly exceptional condition. *** TO ORDER THIS ITEM PLEASE EMAIL US QUOTING OUR STOCK NUMBER (see above) - WE SHALL THEN EMAIL YOU BACK WITH POSTAGE COSTS AND PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS *** *** FOR FULL DETAILS OF OUR GUARANTEE AND PAYMENT OPTIONS, PLEASE CLICK ON "Buying from us - All you need to know" ON OUR HOME PAGE *** |
