| A rare, fully beaded Bagobo, possibly Bilaan, blouse from the Bagobo (Bilaan) people of south central Mindanao Island, the Philippines circa the mid-20th century, probably earlier. Tiny white, black, red and yellow glass beads are set on thick black cotton cloth. Iconic Bagobo figures (possibly ancestral) in splayed legs and upraised arms, done in black beads appear on the front and back of the blouse. Along the back neckline is the traditional Bagobo “wing of the eagle motif”. The blouse measures 17.5 inches long, 16.5 inches wide and 15 inches on the arms, and is in excellent condition. The previous collector has washed the blouse, so not much accumulated dust remains. Imagine the hours spent manually setting these tiny glass beads on the blouse. | ||
