This is a piece that I should put in the regional category. However, it is such a fine example, I felt it should go up in the period furniture section. It is made of mixed woods. All of the iron is original. It still retains some of the original lacquer. A similar food carrier can be found in the Kai-Yin Lo book Classical and Vernacular Chinese in the Living Environment. This book is a very good reference showing both Huanghuali and other woods in one collection. The size is 33x21x40 high.

A real 18th century painting table from Northern China. The size is apx. 63x21x34 high. The base, which retains most of the original lacquer,is Yumu. The top appears to be fruitwood.I have restored the table. The apron trim has been replaced on both ends. Except for these replacements, the table is all original and very solid.Perfect cloud bands.Surface sculpting throughout.Double incense stick beading on legs. Please inquire for more information.

While this simple stool my not be considered by most to be indicative of a "Period" antique, it is.The date on this little jewel is 1800, plus or minus. It is of mixed woods. The top is of burl wood.Originally. the stool was covered in lacquer, however, the lacquer has long since worn off.The stool has not been stripped, sanded,or scraped. As they used to say in Hong Kong,"a true Antique in the Raw".18x5x14

1736 to 1795...Qianlong...This red lacquer(cinnabar)box is very rare. The size is 34x22x22High.The front plates and handles are original.Originally, the entire box was covered with paintings. Whether they were similar to the painting on the side is unknown. This is one of the finest examples of a early box that we have seen.Another example of a similar style can be seen in the recent book called Pure Form.
