These 18th century chairs actually sit rather well.May people automatically think that all Chinese chairs are uncomfortable. Also, there seems to be a misconception, that Chinese chairs can't be used or they are structurally unsound. This is not the case with these chairs. They are strong and can be used. The size is 23x17x39 high. The seat is 21 high. They are made from very dense elm wood and are from Shanxi in northern China. Some other notable features include:turned spindles under the arms, pipe ...click for details

This cabinet is directly related to the Huang Hua Li cabinets that have recently sold at auction for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Although this display cabinet is made from Yumu-Northern Elm,it is still very well realized. The carving is well executed and done in a Early Traditional Style, sometimes called "scrolling grass".Also, the finish on the ...click for details

This 18th century red lacquer tray is the best we have ever seen or acquired. The size is 20 3/4 x 12 3/8 x 2 1/8 inches high. The tray is in quite excellent condition. Much of the gold decoration has simply been worn away from use. The tray was probably used for serving tea and food. One of the main figures in the scene is still apparent. It is a crane. The rest of the scene was foliage, flowers, trees, and various fruits. For a more detailed discussion of lacquer please see the "C.L. MA ...click for details
