| An early 19th century,4 drawer,altar table. The size is 99 1/2x22x32 1/2x35 to top of flange. This is a perfect example of old style craftsmanship that was still being done in the first half of the 19th century. I am attempting to "save" what's left of the gold leaf. Since the apron was already loose, I was able to remove the apron and clean it separately.In this way, I could lay the apron down horizontally. Using this technique eliminated any possibility of the cleaner dripping onto the gold. Of course, this whole procedure is being done very carefully by hand.I have added an additional thumbnail to show the table after adjustments and one coat of tung oil.WOW! | |||||||||||||||
