Ceramic Mingei pitcher by famous artist Hamda Shoji (1894–1978). The relatively simple and countrified form has been loosely decorated with splashes of iron and pale green glazes. No box. From the estate of the famous print maker Mori Yoshitoshi (1898–1992), who was a friend of Hamada’s. Showa, probably late 1950s. H 18.5 cm. CONDITION: One minor chip repair to rim otherwise fine (see photo 11).

A rare and very attractive, flattish, bottle-shaped vase with a beautiful, iron-red, hare-fur glaze with a mottled section in black and grey on the neck. Made by the important Danish potter Niels THORSSON. Signed: NT for Royal Copenhagen. Dated 1963. H 20.5 cm. Condition: Perfect.

Charming sake bottle (TOKKURI) of modern Bizen-ware. The surface has the characteristic roughness and earthen colours for this type of stoneware. It has large grey patches covering the front of the body. Signed in the bottom w. the artist’s mark. Original kiri-box signed: NAKAMURA Shinichiro.
