Monica F. Gray (active 1898 - 1919) “Monsieur Beauclair” Oil on canvas. Portrait of a French Bulldog. Inscribed to obverse, “Monsier Beauclair”. Black Frame. Rectangular, 20 cms. X 18 cms. (8 inches X 7 inches). Provenance: From a European collection of art work by by Monica Gray. The British artist, Monica Gray was active between 1898 - 1919. She exhibited at the Royal Academy, London in 1900 and 1905. .She was know for her depiction of dogs in portrait.

Scottish School, watercolour on ivory, portrait miniature of a child with a dog, attributed to William Douglas (1780-1832). The rectangular, half-length, portrait depicts a child wearing a violet-coloured dress with gold shoulder straps, playing with a dog. Stone background with sunset landscape in the distance. Gilt-metal frame with velvet reverse. 10 cms. X 8 cms. (4 inches X 3 1/4 inches). Excellent condition and a lovely subject.
