Japanese antique hibachi, a small coal burning brazier traditionally used as a room or hand warmer. Measures approximately 8 inches tall, 15 inches wide and 9 inches deep. Crafted from beautifully grained keyaki, an indigenous Japanese hardwood. Taisho-Period (1912-1926); fair to good condition. Wood exterior is in overall good condition. Vintage suzuri-bako, a Japanese wood and bamboo calligrapher's box. This charming little box is fashioned using a bisected section of bamboo for the lid, and a flat plank of lacquered wood as the base, with curved ends cut to fit the arc of the bamboo. The wooden bottom contains a suzuri, or ink stone, seated into a precise cut-out.
