English School, c. 1850. A watercolour portrait of a young gentleman with fair, curly hair and blue eyes, wearing a white shirt, blue waistcoat, and black cravat, under a black coat. A red drape behind his right shoulder. Ornate hair back with seed pearls. Contained within brass locket frame with engraved border. Oval, 5 cms. X 4 cms. (2 inches X 1 1/2 inches). Very good condition.

Watercolour on ivory portrait of a naval officer wearing a blue coatee with white standing collar, gold epaulette and trim, waist belt with embossed insignia, and two medals pinned to his left breast, a gilt-handled sword held in the crook of his left arm. Black wood frame. Rectangular, 115 mm high (4 ˝ inches). Excellent condition.

Signed to obverse, either “JN” or “JM”. Silvered metal case. Oval, 4 cms. Diameter (1 ˝ inches). Excellent conditon.

Oval miniature, 6 cms. diameter (2 1/3 inches). Rectangular frame, 12 1/2 cms. X 10 cms. (5 inches X 4 inches). Solomon Polack was born in the Hague, in 1757.
