English School, c. 1810. Watercolour portrait miniature depicting an officer of the Royal Artillery. The young man, with blond hair and blue eyes, wears a blue coatee with red facings and brass buttons, and gilt epaulette, over white shirt with black cravat. Sky background. Gilt brass case. Contained within lovely vintage travelling case with velvet lining. Oval, 7 cms. X 5 cms. (2 3/4 inches X 2 1/4 inches).
