Good early 20th CE pair of Lanna style Northern Thai Buddhas. The small one on left is amulet sized (H: 5.2cm/2in) with traces of gold and black lacquer and the larger one is a small votive image (H: 7.2cm/2.8in). Of interest, these are cast in zinc which has a much lower melting temperature than bronze which makes it easier to cast in them large numbers and has a much more pleasing appearance and feel than lead.

Very rare large Song to Early Ming Buddha constructed of adobe and sun baked clay. This piece has been in my personal collection for about 5 years, before that it had belonged to another private collector 10 years prior. It is a difficult piece to precisely date, but I will guarantee that this is no later than 15th CE. The previous owner claims this Buddha came from the Ningxia Autonomous Region and dates to the XiXia Empire (Tangut) 1038-1227 CE, personally I doubt that it is XiXia ...click for details

Good mid 19th CE blue and white porcelain “lustral” water offering stemmed bowl, circa Daoguang to Tongzhi reigns (1821-1874), with two well executed dragons chasing a flaming pearl motif. Water symbolizes purity so this sort of bowl would be a common piece for a Buddhist altar ensemble. The bottom of the foot has been ground down and polished presumably to negate the effects of a chip on the footrim, noted in last enlargement. H: 12cm/4.6in and 11cm/4.2in

Rare and finely sculpted torso of the Buddha seated in the Bhadra asana from the Tang Dynasty. This is a classic piece which clearly illustrates the Gandharan Greek inspired influence on early Chinese Buddhist art. The head and lower portion of base have been cut off to remove an attempt to restore the image using contemporary commercial materials. H: 13.7cm/5.4in and W: 11.2cm/4.4in.

Fine small Ming bronze Buddhist devotee. This was part of larger altar table ensemble and looks to be cut away from a larger base. There are traces of red lacquer on the robes (please note that the red color is much more subdued in real life than the photos would indicate). The sculpture itself is in excellent condition and comes with a custom-made museum quality perspex stand. 7.8cm/3in actual height and 11cm/4.3in mounted on stand.
