A Tibeto-Chinese gilt bronze model of Shakyamuni sheltered by Muchalinda; probably removed from a large set displayed in a decorative pagoda or alter case (which for this piece was probably a collection of iconic scenes from the Life of Shakyamuni Buddha). In this incident, shortly after the Buddha's enlightenment, the naga king Muchalinda shelters the Buddha with his hood during a rainstorm.
