Large Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Glazed Buddhist Jar
This large covered jar was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279) or possibly the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368). We have seen similar examples in recent years and they were generally attributed to the Liao Dynasty (AD 907 - 1125). However, it has now become clear that they come from Yunnan province in the relatively isolated south-west of China.

Chinese Ming Dynasty Buddhist Blue & White Porcelain Bowl
This porcelain bowl was made during the 15th / 16th centuries. The inner surface is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with various Sanskrit characters surrounded by several thin bands. The outer wall is particularly nicely decorated with Buddhist emblems and a keyfret band around the rim. The glaze is finely crackled.
