This Incense burner (censer) of squat proportions with a slightly everted rim and two stylized fish handles to the side is a grey buff stoneware with a blue-grey glaze, what the Chinese call "ge-yu." Kangxi period (1662-1722) This item was bought in Christie's "Asian Works of Art," auction, 10/5/2000 in L.A. Lot # 192, page 53. 5.75 inch diameter, or 14.6 cms. Chinese, Celadon, crackled-glaze porcelain BRUSHWASHER the squat body with elegantly rounded edges and an even tone of glaze throughout. Condition: No chips or cracks or repairs, but there is a very small white "mark," (see enlargement #4) See Christies, "Asian Works of Art," Catalogue, LA, 10/5/2000, Lot #189 pg. 53. The color of the celadon is more pale green than the "turquoise bluish" color shown in the catalogue photo.

Large, 22.5" (57cms.)in height, CHINESE, VASE in baluster form. The elongated body and neck covered with a glaze of sang-de-boeuf dripping with iridescent purple, thinning to a cream tone to the edges of the flaring rim. Brown wash on the base where there is a small firing crack that does not show through on the inside. No other damage of any kind. Ships in a more than 100yr. old kiri-wood case. An unusual Chinese sang-de-boeuf glazed baluster VASE, because it was "misfired, with iridescent flecking," as per Christies,
see "Asian Works of Art," catalogue, LA, 10/06/2000 Lot# 204, pg. 55.The body above a spreading foot with a long ribbed neck leading up to the flaring rim; the interior with a faint CELADON glaze. The color is actually more like "crushed strawberries," darker than the normal sang-de-boeuf. Condition: absolutely perfect. Height is 12.5 inches ...click for details
