This piece dates to Egypt's XXVIth Dynasty, circa 664-525 BCE.

This is a bronze statue depicting the God of the Underworld, Osiris. This piece retains it's suspension loop on the reverse, indicating that it was worn during ancient times.

Height: 37 mm. Condition: Intact and choice. A nice piece made in solid casting. This is not a hollow casting. A peculiar aspect of the Bronze Osiris figures is the way each one can be identified in terms of it's region of manufacture - if hands are placed one above the other, the piece was made in the north, Lower Egypt. If the hands are positioned together at the fists, as seen here, then the piece was made in Middle Egypt. If the piece was made in Upper Egypt, from Abydos to Aswan, then the hands will be depicted crossed on the chest.

Provenance of this piece provided to purchaser.

$5500 USD

This is an exemplary piece of Middle Kingdom Egyptian religious symbolism. This terracotta scene has two purposes - first, it’s a butcher's shop scene depicting a sectioned bull. The severed bull’s head effigy is visible in the top-left quadrant of the tray, the severed hind quarter of the bull located in the bottom-left, with legs and other parts represented on the remaining quarters of the tray. There is a fluted drain in a cross pattern impressed in the surface of the tray to allow drainage of the offered blood from the offering to flow to and through the spout.

Sturdily constructed of red Nile silt clay and painted with a red slip paint on the sides and top. This piece was actually used in the Middle Kingdom (circa 2000 BCE) as an offering table. There are cut marks and gouging from a sharp metal instrument in the slip and the fabric of the clay located in a number of areas, plainly visible.

The condition of the piece is fantastic! Not broken or repaired whatsoever. There is some abrasion to the underside of the spout, as seen in the pictures, and a couple of small chips around the rim, with some overall loss of the red slip by abrasion from utilitarian usage in ancient times, but this really is a VERY special, rare and MOST collectable piece.

Sir William Flinders-Petrie, noted Egyptologist, referred to this object typology as a "Soul House" or residence for the soul after death, with all of its essential, utilitarian and votive aspects.

This object measures a SUBSTANTIAL 13.5" in length and 12" in width. Great Provenance, which will be provided to the purchaser.

This is a fine and delicately carved Egyptian steatite scarab amulet. Glazed green, and intricately carved details including an inscription on the reverse, much of which is retained. Hierogliphic inscription visible on the reverse includes "Hotep, Nsw, Nsw, Neb". It's obviously a dedicatory scarab for a king. This is a fine example of an ancient Egyptian faience scarab. Dating to the Late Period, circa 664 - 332 BCE, this piece is nearly perfect, save a tiny chip on the underside. PRICE ON REQUEST

This is a spectacular piece in wonderful condition.

It's ancient Egyptian, circa 25th Dynasty (Third Intermediate Period, 800-657 BC).

Standing in a permanent wood base, the piece projects a full 6" from the base. Including the base thickness, the presentation is 7.25" tall.

The depiction is quite unusual. This is a statue depicting a Divine Votaress of Amun. The Divine Votaress of Amun was considered to be a royal female with divine duties, and there are texts which indicate that the king went to great pains to ensure that his daughter would become the Divine Votaress of Amun. It was a highly-revered religious, social and political position in ancient Egypt. The Divine Votaress was considered the First of the Hierodoules of Amun, Head of His Harem, and, as such, she held the position of Legitimate Wife of the God. She is referred to as Wife of the God, and worshipper of the God, or Divine Votaress.

When I first saw this piece, I thought it was possibly Middle Kingdom, due to the unusual proportions. While there is some Alabaster sculpture in the Middle Kingdom, small deities aren't common, so this must be late Third Intermediate Period, as the title of Divine Votaress of Amun did not exist until the New Kingdom, circa the reign of Hatshepsut, who appears to have created the job, thereby cinching her position as next in line to the throne, which seems to have worked quite nicely.

There is a similar piece, albeit much larger, in the Cairo Museum, and she displays the same full figure as this piece.

This piece has a museum provenance. Details provided to purchaser.
