French; Second Empire (circa 1852-1870). These are two French Bronze hat-stands in the Neo-classical style, their design inspired by ancient Roman candelabra and the First Empire style of Napoleon I. With an aged, dark bronze patina and subtle traces of the original gilt (ormolu) decoration, the bases were each cast as one piece in the form of triple lion paws in the Classical style.
