One of the finest quality barong we have had the privilege of offering. The hand forged, traditional leaf shaped blade shows evidence of folding. The silver banded, cockatoo hilt is of select Bantai wood and undamaged. The scabbard is finely carved at the throat and tip and banded with a tightly woven multi colored weave on the front and a banded weave on the obverse. A sword with comparatively a long narrow blade and deer antler hilt. There are some very minor losses to the horn. The blade is notched at the hilt and is somewhat rectangular there. The blade is dark with age and use and has some small areas of light pitting. The cutting edge has small nicks from use. With a high quality, four wave blade ( kalis siko ), this excellent kris is finely carved in the area of the ricasso. The hard wood, ( banate ) pommel is some what in the form of a birds head. The hilt is banded with silver metal incised with geometric designs, The hemp wrap is slightly loose in the contact areas, as s the top silver band. A Mandaling Batak Lion or Dog figure is an oracular device used by Shaman. Standing on a raised, rectangular base, with ears up and mouth open. The body decorated with a scalloped pattern and incised with a triangular circular motif on all four hips and around the base. There is an age crack in the lower right side of the base. From the Moro of Mindanao, a well crafted spear head called Budiak. With a finely crafted collar and deep fullers that are the features of a large 16 inch blade this is the work of a craftsman. The blade and shank both bear museum catalog marks. The blade surface has abrasions from age and use but no dark rust. The very rare wood scabbard has metal bands and a carved throat. A fine quality sword with a well executed, working hilt in the traditional style of the Bahau People. The hilt is well formed with nice patina and hair tassels. The base of the hilt is tightly bound with a woven band and pitch. The well made blade has not been cleaned, it has a chisel edge on the right side and the left side is flat. A good quality fighting Kampilan of the Maquindado warriors of Mindanao, Philippines. The hilt is carved with attention to fine detail and the eyes are inset with brass convex discs. The quality iron guard is forged in a twist pattern with a plain, smaller guard on the opposing side of the hilt. The hair is missing. The long, well crafted blade has a nice, undisturbed patina which reveals some folded metal and swells to a wedge tip. 19th C. Overall length, 38.5", blade 27".

A Moro Kris, Maguindadao Matito with a heavy fighting blade in original scabbard. Maguindadao Matito are carried by the warriors of the Maguindadao Tribe of Mindanao. A Moro Kris from the Mindanao Region of the Philippines. The dark hardwood hilt is adorned with a silver band at the top which appears to be held in place by hand made copper nails.
