This ring was apparently worn by multiple generations, as it has been resized and exhibits wear near the setting. The setting itself seems to have been worn or broken away, revealing or being supplanted by a cement of similar color to the stone, which is still firmly in place. The jeweler we had test the karat value of the gold (16k) believes it to be a star sapphire. Though there is some minor damage to the setting, the stone is firmly in place.
