In a way it is a world prior to industrialization, a world of peace and quiet, a world in which everybody walks and where the calmness and the muse of waiting governs. Waiting for what? Mario Algaze does not tell." - Michael Koetzle, curator and photography critic for Photo Technik in ...click for details

A 'panoramic' type photograph by Mario Algaze (born in Cuba, 1947),taken in Costa Rica, 2005.
Mario is quoted, saying "Latin America calls to me. It's an extension of my dreams. I'm born into it again and again. Recently, I have chosen a mechanical panoramic camera to turn these dreams into reality. The field of vision is much greater and so is the information and detail." An original selenium-toned, silver gelatin photograph, signed, numbered and dated by the artist.

The photographs of Mario Algaze (born in Cuba, 1947) resonate with the distinct rhythmic pulse of Latin America.
Never forced or structured, his work sensitively and accurately reveals the timeless landscapes and peoples of the Americas and yet appears enigmatic and personal, like a daydream image.
"Many of Mario's photographs revel in the art that most imposes a sense of style on Latin American life: architecture. Stairways, columns, porches, balconies, roofs, doorways, arches, ...click for details
