While I recall seeing this exceptionally rare hallmark in the past, a star, I can't find it in any of my reference books nor can I find it listed on the "mystery marks" websites. I welcome info anyone wishes to send me. Otherwise, a knowing buyer can feel free to snatch this one up and may have found themselves quite the bargain. The only other mark is "Silver Mexico" so this predates the eagle mark of the late 1940s.
I also apologize that I can't figure out the s ...click for details

Famed Taxco artisans of Los Castillo were remarkably innovative, creating mixed metal work and this lesser known work known as "Azteca Pluma," using bird feathers for color. Most pieces are designs that incorporate open spaces and then, rather than fill the spaces with inlay, brilliantly colored feathers are used. In the vast majority of Azteca Pluma pieces I've seen, the feathers have been coated with some type of resin. The intent was likely to protect the feathers (feathers don& ...click for details

A graceful depiction of a huntress and her bow. This happens to be a horoscope symbol but is also simply an eye-pleasing image of female empowerment, if you have a female friend who has recently overcome a struggle or obstacle in her life. I see this beautiful brooch as a way to present a gift symbolizing both beauty and strength in the female form. If you happen to have a friend who has taken up archery, it would be the ideal gift, literally! Lastly, if you are a romantic, it could even symbol ...click for details

Every piece of work I've ever had by Anton has been well designed and executed. Not as well-known a designer as some of the others, but I do have customers who seek out his work and this pretty pair of earrings has particularly nice stone inlay with fantastic, rich color from the old stones native to the Taxco region. (Today, new jewelry contains a lot of imported stones.) The rings dangling from the bottom add a nice touch.
Dimensions are 1 1/8 inches long and ¾ inches wide. Weight of p ...click for details

This wonderful Mexican sterling tea strainer has the hallmark HECHO EN MEXICO DF STERLING, 925, the Eagle Mark 20 and a conjoined HT. According to The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks by Billie Hougart on page 219 that conjoined HT was used sometimes on Estela Popowski’s work. Estela Popowski was a designer in Mexico City ca. 1950s. She also worked briefly as a designer for Los Castillo and for Antonio Pineda in the early 1950s.If this great piece was made entirely by Estela Pop ...click for details
