Jaina Island, Yucatan, Mexico. Ca. 500-800 A.D. A fine, hollow molded pottery, standing figure having a animal-headed baby, and ceremonial facial scarification around her mouth and chin. Wearing small eardiscs and necklace. Whistle incorporated into the rear base. Some minor repairs, otherwise intact. An elegant example. 22,8 x 11 cm. Provenance: Private Barcelona collection, bought in the 1970's from Primitive Art Gallery, S.A. published in the gallery catalog.

Chavin Bottle, Ca. 1000-400 B.C. Small, redware terracotta bottle having a rounded body with tall, slender neck of slightly corseted form. Possibly representing an anthropomorphized rodent or guinea pig with relief facial detail on the body consisting of lightly recessed eyes and mouth, relief nose and “c” shaped ears flanking. Intact, save for a tiny probe hole on reverse. Provenance: Ex. Jean-Eugene Lions collection, Geneva, Switzerland.
