The gem has a hand drilled hole through the center to attach the gold rod. You can see in the photos, which I used back lighting to show the drilling, how painstakingly it must have been to drill through the gem. The surface of the gem has smooth carvings of a floral design on both sides. The gold is probably from a later date. Condition: perfect. Size: See last photo. These beads were probably also from India and were very broadly used during the Pyu period in Burma. Many reproductions of these beads are made today but are easily detected because the lack the luster of the real ones. Most of the beads are actually white in color and are striped with the black lines. Size: L 46cm.
