A brown slip coated pottery oil lamp decorated with a rare mythological scene depicting Venus or a nymph riding Aegipan. The base is incised with three stylised palm fronds.
Aegipan is associated with the stellar constellation Capricorn, he was related to Pan and thus part goat and part human but had the tail of a fish.
Roman, 2nd Century AD
Repaired from several pieces with some losses around the nozzle

A carved alabaster head from a figure of the god Serapis depicted with long flowing hair and beard.
Serapis was devised during the 3rd century BC on the orders of Ptolemy I of Egypt as a means to unify the Greeks and Egyptians in his realm.
