This ring is most unique. I have never in over 25 years of collecting come across a gold Scottish agate eternity ring. This example, rendered in 9k, has fine engraving work and the gold work itself is superior.

The ring, a work of art, is scalloped in design and fitted with shaped cabachon agates. The agates well chosen for color include bloodstone, mauve, mustard and jasper hues. It is classical in inspiration and ...click for details

This very beautiful brooch is Scottish, circa 1880. It is designed as a traditional brooch referred to as a Tara. The shape is an elongated circle set with three cairngorms at one end, and a deeper accent of color on the opposing side. The stones are mined in the Cairngorm mountains and have a beautiful, characteristic hue. Each is bezel set and surrounded by fine hand engraving. The agates too are surrounded by engraving, but simpler in design. ...click for details

This very fine antique Scottish brooch captures the beauty of Autumn. A medley of colored agates all indigenous to Scotland, have been finely cut and inlaid in silver by a skilled lapidary. The artistry clearly seen in the choice of color and placement of the stones. So finely rendered, a finger running over the top can barely detect one stone from the next, as it is so smooth to the touch.

This unusual and rare Scottish agate brooch is circa 1880. It is the first and only that I have seen with this inscription. The brooch appears at first to be a mosaic of inlaid stones, but then the letters become clear and the word Clachnacuddin appears. It is created in several time intensive steps, first the silversmith, then the engraver and finally the lapidary.

The name is the anglicised version of the Clachna ...click for details

This form of Scottish brooch is among my favorite. It is called a penannular, or split ring. Used for centuries to secure garments, this brooch appears strikingly modern in its sleek, simple design. It is rendered in 12k gold and set with beautifully chosen agates cut en cabachon. The top is a citrine, finely cut in the form of the native flower of Scotland, the thistle. The other two stones are faceted crystals that are collet set and foil back to reflect the light. ...click for details

These Victorian gold Scottish cufflinks are quite rare. Most antique Scottish jewelry was designed in silver and finding any in gold is rare. In this case,it was truly exciting to find Victorian Scottish agate cufflinks rendered in gold. The 9k gold is finely hand engraved and inlaid with Montrose gray, bloodstone, jasper and mustard colored agates. There is a fine interplay of color the geometry is superb. The cufflinks measure 3/4 inches and are attached to the batons with chains. One mustard ag ...click for details

Rare, and rarer still is this antique Scottish silver agate bracelet, circa 1880. It has every element of good design; proportion, color, and fine detailing. This Scottish silver agate bracelet is circa 1860. It is of the finest quality both in design and execution. Each plaque has six agates, individually cut and shaped by a lapidary, then secured and placed on slate. The four corners of each section have a heart. This work is the most time consuming as the beauty is defined by the level of skill and artistry of the lapidary. I have not had a bracelet like this for sale in many years, as they have always been rare to find. ...click for details

This wonderful Scottish agate brooch is most unusual. It has a traditional motif, a strap and garter very popular during the reign of Queen Victoria. In this example the agates are used cleverly disguising the heart motif. Perhaps this was a love token given for a special anniversary or wedding. Rare to find hearts in Scottish jewelry, especially in these traditional brooches originally designed for the men's tartans. ...click for details

This antique Scottish agate ribbon brooch is circa 1880. Most of the brooches from this period are traditional and those that are figural, like this one, are rarer to find.

I have sold this form of brooch before, but this is a variation in color and sculptural quality. In this brooch, the side agates are raised giving the brooch a realistic rendition of a ribbon. The central oval has agates that are cabachon cu ...click for details
