In addition to the finely done lettering, a heart; spades and an hourglass shape are appliqued on the front. The back is done with appliqued baskets, leaves and flowers. Extraordinarily fine cross stitches fasten the appliques. It is in excellent condition; probably New England origin. Measures 27" long and 6 3/4" wide. The interior is done with a variety of light and dark printed fabrics including a ruffle on the top end. The outside is plain linen. Remnants remain of two tabs for hanging which may explain why the backing is plain. It would not have been seen if it was meant to be hung more than rolled up.
