A unusual black lacquered plate with a three fish design and a little frog. Unusual to find wooden plates from that period. Age: Ten Kingdoms, 907 - 979 AD

A beautiful and well made scholar's screen made of blackwood and having the original marble insert. Most of the marble in early pieces have been replaced. The frame for the marble has a key fret design. The base has carvings of two peaches, representing longevity, and the peony for prosperity. Age: Early 19th century.

An unusual leather overlay wooden table top chest with beautiful hardware. Size: H. 16cm. W. 38 x 22.2 cm.

A beautiful and rare blackwood vanity chest. This is an unique piece and very large and quite heavy. It has all the original brass fittings and many drawers. There are many copies of this piece and this is the only original one I have come by in all the years I have been collecting.

A nice lacquered screen mirror used by Scholars in their work tables. The mirror is surrounded by the usual key fret design while the base is carved with the auspicious melon, peony and peach, representing longevity and prosperity.

An inscribed very heavy blackwood chest. The inscription states that it was given to a high official as a gift. There are two dragons carved on the front panel that probably had protruding heads that are now missing. Size: H. 36cm. L. 36.2cm. W. 28cm.

A very rare large gilded Thayo receptacle created in Mandalay for Buddhist votive use. Thayo is made by mixing lacquer with sifted paddy husks to which pulverized bone is added for strength, resulting in a sort of plastic like material easily moulded or stamped in a relief design.
