Vintage Japanese hari bako sewing box. Dark lacquered case; decorative drawer fronts feature richly figured burl wood veneer with herringbone inlays. Removable kiri drawers designed to fit snugly into space under hinged top. Includes period items; combs, rulers and spools of thread. Ten inches tall, 12 3/4 inches wide, and 8 inches deep. Very good overall condition, with wear and tear typical of the vintage. Small chip in upper right corner of veneer. Early Showa-Period (c.1930)

Background of brilliant green, accented by tortoise shell pattern with floral motif in reds and gold. Pattern on front extends eight and a half feet from one end, and 15 inches from the other. Vintage Japanese fukuro obi, mid Showa-Period (c.1950's). 12 inches wide, 160 inches (13' 4") long. Off-white background color, geometric pattern in silver. Pattern on front extends eight and a half feet from one end, and 16 inches from the other. The middle section, as well as the back of the obi, are undecorated. The sash is in good overall condition, perfect for a table runner or wall display.
