This cuff bracelet is English, circa 1880. It is more unusual than most, having fine pierced work creating vines, leaves and flowers. The use of multi- colored gold used with silver, became popular when the art of Japan was widely introduced in Europe. Commodore Perry credited with bringing about a trade agreement with Japan also opened the world to Japanese art and culture. In this example the pierced silver work is superb as is the hand engraving. The open work adds not only light, but looks ...click for details

This sterling silver Victorian bracelet is designed with the classical strap and buckle motif. This design was very popular in England in the 1880's and is bold and distinctive. The buckle and strap are decorated with tiny "cannonballs" and the strap itself as well as the backdrop is decorated with hand engraved maple leaves. The maple leaf has long been the symbol of strength, courage, protection and long life. It is a popular motif found on jewelry from this period. ...click for details

Uniquely beautiful, this English sterling locket and collar is circa 1870. It is sterling, and is designed to be worn in multiple ways. One side is finely hand engraved and can be worn with or without the locket, and with or without the extension. The same is true of the sleekly designed reverse side. Worn with the locket or without, it is refined and elegant. The proportions and the incredible condition make this a standout from almost all I have seen. The collar measures a substantial 18.5 inch ...click for details

This Victorian, French sterling bracelet is circa 1890. I is designed with chunky silver links that alternate smooth and textured links and terminate with a large ball. It falls beautifully on the wrist and is connected as it traditionally was, by a spring ring. It is in excellent condition and retains the French guarantee stamps for sterling. The nineteenth century English silversmiths had distinctive artistry. The jewelry was hand engraved, often with flowers and tiny silver "bullets" decorated the perimeter. In this example, the engraving is refined and the silver work beautiful. It is wonderful finding an original set from this period, especially in excellent condition. The reverse of the brooch and earrings has tiny little holes which allowed the air to escape during the manufacturing process. The top of each earring f ...click for details
